What it is

The Agencia de Vivienda Social of the Community of Madrid allocates rental homes through three routes: special need, social emergency (started by the authorities on their own initiative) and lottery (when there is a call and the income and household requirements are met). The special-need route is for situations such as eviction, gender-based violence or homes in poor condition; it can be requested at any time, free of charge, online or in person. Requirements include: being of age, household income no higher than 3.5 times the IPREM for rentals, not owning another home in Spain, not having received public housing in the previous 10 years and proving 10 years of padrón registration or work in the Community of Madrid, the last 3 immediately before the application (with exceptions, for example for refugees).
