What it is

In Catalonia, to access the cash benefits and social services of the Dependency Act you must have a recognised degree of dependency. It is for people living in Catalonia who, because of age, illness or disability, have lost their autonomy and need another person's help with daily activities. Requirements: having lived in Spain for at least five years (not necessarily in a row), the last two consecutive and immediately before the application, and being registered on the padrón in Catalonia when applying. The initial assessment can be requested at any time, online, in person or by video call, and is free. You do not need to ask your CAP for reports, but you must attach private healthcare reports from the last two years that are not in your medical record. Non-EU nationals provide, among other things, the TIE, the Police resident certificate and the historical padrón certificate (not needed if they have lived five years in Catalonia since 2006). The bank account for the benefit must be in the beneficiary's name and held at a bank in Spain.

Official wording
Estar empadronat a Catalunya en el moment de presentar la sol·licitud.
