What it is

In the Valencian Community a formalised civil partnership is created by registering with the Register of Formalised Civil Partnerships. Requirements: be adults or emancipated minors, live together as a couple in the Valencian Community, not be related up to the second degree, not be married (unless legally separated) or have another registered partnership, and not be legally incapacitated. Both sign the application; cohabitation is proved with a padrón certificate showing both at the same address (volantes are not accepted), and documents in other languages need a sworn translation (apostilled if translated in the country of origin). Then both appear together at the register by appointment (non-EU nationals with their passport), without witnesses; it can also be done before a notary. There is no fee. The time limit is three months; no answer means refusal.

Official wording
La inscripción tiene como efecto la constitución de una unión de hecho formalizada, con las consecuencias previstas en la Ley 5/2012, de 15 de octubre, de la Generalitat, de Uniones de hecho Formalizadas de la Comunidad Valenciana.
