What it is
Chinese citizens living in Catalonia apply for an ordinary passport (first issue, renewal or replacement) through the "中国领事" (China Consular) app, to the Chinese Consulate General in Barcelona. Renewal can be requested when less than one year of validity remains or the visa pages run out; if the passport expired more than six months ago, or was lost or stolen, an explanatory note must be filled in. After the review in the app, you attend the consulate by appointment to hand in documents and give fingerprints; under-16s and people with real difficulties (elderly, ill, disabled or pregnant people), who say so in the app, do not need to attend for fingerprints. Steps
Step 1: Download the app and verify your account
Download the 中国领事 app, register and verify your identity (any email or a Chinese mobile works; a family member's name and passport can be used for verification).

Step 2: Apply in the app
The consulate replies to each application according to the case and documents: check the replies and status in the app.

Step 3: Hand in the documents
For a first passport, after the initial review: either go on the booked date to the consulate hall (Carrer de Lleó XIII, 34, Barcelona) to hand in documents and give biometric data (under-16s with at least one legal guardian), or have a video interview and then hand in or post the documents.
