Número de la Seguridad Social

What it is

The Social Security number (NUSS, also called NAF) identifies each person to Social Security. It is needed to register for the first time when you start working and to access pensions and benefits; the regional health system uses it for the health card. It can be requested at any time online with your DNI or NIE, mobile phone, email and address. Without Cl@ve or an electronic certificate, you apply with a photo of your identity document and a selfie.

Steps

  1. Step 1: Check whether you already have one

    You may already have one if you have ever worked or been covered by School Insurance. If you are not sure, check in your personal area.

  2. Step 2: Get your details ready

    You need your identification details (DNI or NIE), mobile phone, email and usual address. It is recommended to download and fill in form TA.1 beforehand.

  3. Step 3: Apply online

    Apply on Import@ss. With Cl@ve or an electronic certificate you log in directly. Without electronic identification, if you are of age or an emancipated minor, you fill in your details, take a selfie and attach photos of both sides of your DNI or NIE.

FAQ

Can I apply for my child?

Yes. If the number is for a minor, the mother, father or legal guardian applies; the minor's passport is also accepted.
